Microsoft is making available a near-final build of the Windows Phone 8 SDK for developers with the final build of the SDK being available during the launch of Windows Phone 8 later this year. Microsoft wants to give early access to app developers.

“Today I’m happy to announce that the time has come to make the near-final kit available to more developers through the Windows Phone 8 SDK Preview Program. Next Wednesday I’ll share detailed instructions on how current Windows Phone developers with published apps can apply,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post. Microsoft hopes to give this limited access to developers and plans on releasing more information on how developers can apply for the Preview Program on September 12. The idea behind this Preview Program is to offer more published developers a way to explore the SDK and get started on app development for WP8. The final Windows Phone 8 SDK will be made available later this year once Windows Phone 8 is officially launched.
