Microsoft is killing the Nokia Lumia brand, will now use Microsoft Lumia instead

Nokia

According to a report by The Verge, Microsoft is about to drop the Nokia brand in favor for the Microsoft branding. Microsoft Lumia will be the new name for the companies phone division, which means the Lumia branding is staying put for Windows Phone.

Microsoft is yet to make an official announcement regarding this change, so take it with a pinch of salt. In response to this news, a number of people aren’t too sure this brand name change is a good idea, especially in Europe. Nokia is a well known brand, and is probably one of the reasons why Windows Phone is doing so well outside of America.

It’s unclear how Microsoft is planning to brand their devices, they could opt for Microsoft Lumia, Microsoft or just Lumia. Microsoft will take on the Microsoft Lumia brand on its social networking accounts and official websites, so it would make sense to have Microsoft Lumia on devices too.
