Recently everybody started worrying about the blue light issue that is present in all the devices and screens. The daily use of our devices and the exposure to this blue light may have serious consequences on our vision and health. However, the good news is that technology is now evolving and replacing this type of light. Nowadays you can find many devices and monitors that have hardware or software with built-in technology for reducing or even removing blue light.

Microsoft is the next in the line of companies that try to fight this danger for their users. They try to implement a similar technology in their most recent operating system, the Windows 10. The latest build, the 14915, found on the Fast Ring in Windows Insider, there have been some files spotted which might hint to a Blue Light Reduction feature. Core noticed this change and it posted on Twitter that the build has a toggle for Quick Actions that could not be accessed in the rs_prerelease.

The toggle will supposedly be found next to the Notification area in the Windows 10 system, both for Mobile and for PC. If you turn it on, this feature will reduce the level of blue light coming from the device you are running Windows 10 on. This process is very similar to the way another app helps people protect their vision, namely f.lux. Moreover, it appears that the upcoming feature will adjust automatically the intensity of the light, taking into account the level of light surrounding the device, whether it’s sunrise or sunset. Thus it can provide the correct amount of blue light that should be emitted by the device in order to avoid messing up with the sleep schedule of the user.
