It now seems that we finally have a release date for the long-awaited Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Planned as a mjaor update for Windows 10 with a wide range of new features, the Anniversary Update is a very important release for Redmond.

One of its most important features is Windows Hello, allowing users to log in securely to Windows 10, Universal apps and websites. This feature relies on biometrics and will work with Microsoft Edge once the Anniversary Update is released. In addition to Windows Hello, this update will allow you to schedule scans with Windows Defender and receive notifications and detailed reports after each scan.

Microsoft also made various improvements to Cortana: you’ll be able to use Cortana right from the lock screen without unlocking your PC and Cortana will now remember frequently used information. Thanks to the cloud technology, Cortana will be synced across all your devices, allowing you to share reminders, text messages, and other information.

Anniversary Update will also bring improved pen support thanks to the Windows Ink. Using this feature you’ll be able to easily take notes on your Windows 10 device as well as use pen with Office tools and Microsoft Edge.

There are also various improvements for gamers and with new Xbox Play Anywhere feature, users will be able to buy a game once and play it on both Windows 10 and Xbox One. In addition, all your achievements and saved games will be synced between the two platforms. There will be improved support for Cortana on Xbox One, too, and you’ll be able to turn on your Xbox One by voice command.

This update will also bring many improvements to Edge, such as support for some of the most popular extensions. In addition to extensions, Edge will be updated to better support the latest web standards like HTML5, CSS3, and ARIA.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update will bring many amazing features and according to Microsoft, we should see this update available to the public on August 2nd.
