Is Pokemon Go on Windows Phone?

As we’ve been reporting, the Pokemon Go application has had a lot of demand from Windows mobile users. Currently, the app is available for both iOS and Android phones which has left Windows phone customers desperately leaving feedback and requests for the popular critter catching game. Thankfully, our friends over at Shifter discovered a Facebook response from Microsoft Portugal saying that Pokemon Go will be coming to Windows devices.

Pokemon fan and Windows user Rafael Pinheiro shared his opinion with Microsoft Portugal the conversation roughly starting off with a complaint. “The Pokemon Go is a phenomenon that is taking over the world, except for users of Windows Phone.” He goes on to explain that he will be dropping the device in favor of a competitor as a result of the available apps on the Windows Store.

His concern prompted by Pokemon Go resulted in a reply from Microsoft Portugal’s social media. Their response stated that the application will indeed be coming to the Windows phone store ‘soon’. Even with more inquiries rising, there still hasn’t been an estimated time frame.

Pokemon Go has been a hot topic for many fans as of late, sprouting feedback threads and Change.org petitions. One of which has already accumulated over 69,000 signatures and counting. Microsoft had already replied to fans to say that they were looking into the potential options. Thanks to Microsoft Portugal’s social media, it seems the game is in the bag! Now all that’s left to do is wait or watch more videos of Pokemon Go prototypes being developed for HoloLens.

We must state, that while associated with the company, Microsoft Portugal cannot speak on behalf of Pokémon Go or Windows developers. The likelihood of Pokémon Go coming to Windows 10 or Windows 10 Mobile is still a debate left best to more authoritative figures.

This might be the next step towards augmented reality birthing video games, but for now the Pokemon Go app is only a mobile app. Are you excited to catch ’em all with your Windows phone? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
