We all know its a pain to deal with email attachments and it causes us to spend way too much time on our emails. Microsoft is recommending you use SkyDrive instead of going back and forth via email. With features just as editing documents in one place, its a no-brainer.

“Today’s cloud services offer a great alternative to attachments that solve many of these problems. Instead of emailing docs back and forth for group editing, SkyDrive lets you edit the doc in one place using Office Web Apps or Office on your PC and Mac—saving all your versions in one place,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

According to the company, there are over 1 billion email messages sent with file attachments per week. On top of that, the average office worker receives over 170 email messages a day and sends over 35.

Someones we must send files as an attachment over and over again after making revisions, but SkyDrive offers the ability to have a central place to send files and edit from there using Office Web Apps or Office on PC/Mac.

So far, SkyDrive represents over 15% of the total number of email attachments sent via Hotmail very month and this number is growing rapidly.

Microsoft has also launched a new website that one can share to friends to teach them on how to make the switch from attachments to SkyDrive. Check out the website here: http://www.attachmentssuck.com/
