Microsoft reiterates the demise of MSN Food & Drink, Health & Fitness, and Travel apps

On July 10th, we brought you breaking news regarding Microsoft announcing the discontinuation of three MSN apps. We learned that the MSN Food & Drink app on Windows, iOS, and Android devices will be discontinued on September 28st, 2015. The MSN Health & Fitness app on Windows, iOS, and Android devices will be discontinued on November 1st, 2015. And finally, the MSN Travel app will be discontinued on September 28st, 2015.

Unfortunately, these three apps lacked consumer appeal resulting in their discontinuation. Microsoft has sent out an email to reiterating the demise of these three apps.

We wanted to let you know of some changes. Three of our MSN apps will be discontinued this autumn along with some features on the MSN Food & Drink and MSN Health & Fitness websites. These MSN apps will be removed from their respective app stores in the same timeframe as the dates above and will no longer be accessible from your phone, desktop and tablet devices. Although the apps are being removed, you’ll still find a wealth of content in the Health & Fitness, Travel and Food & Drink sections of the MSN.com website. Here, you’ll find the latest news and special features for all three of these interests. You can also continue to use our other four apps – MSN News, MSN Weather, MSN Sports and MSN Money – and to find them in their respective app stores.”

But that’s not all. These changes also affect some parts of the MSN website too. For example, the Shopping List and Collections features on the MSN Food & Drink website will be discontinued on September 28th, 2015. The Diet Tracker and Cardio Tracker on the MSN Health and Fitness website will be discontinued on November 1st, 2015.

Once these apps and services are discontinued, you will no longer be able to access any stored data. To back up any existing data you may have stored, head over here for a tutorial on how to save recipe collections from the Food & Drink app and your favorites in the Travel app.

Thanks for the tips, Sean and AS232FS!
