Microsoft releases new Music and Video preview apps for Windows 10, drops Xbox branding

Microsoft launching the Xbox Music app on Windows 8 caused Zune lovers to collectively sigh in frustration. The Windows App was nowhere near as feature rich as the Zune client was, but thanks to constant updates, Microsoft closed the gap (for the most part) leaving us with an app some have finally grown accustomed to.

Now for the main part of the story. Hold on to your seats, because we’re about to start that journey all over again as Microsoft releases the Music Preview and Video Preview apps for the Windows 10 Technical Preview. The new apps are relatively bare, and completely drop the black and green Xbox colors (and branding) for a Windows 10 white theme that we also saw come to the Calculator and Alarm apps in the latest build. The new apps also don’t support purchasing content, so you’ll have to do that using the Xbox Music app on Windows 8.1.

Head over to the download links below to try out the new Music and Video preview apps. Don’t forget to leave your feedback as Microsoft works to rewrite the apps for Windows 10. Let us know what you think of the apps in the comments section below.
