Microsoft just released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1607 (the Anniversary Update). The update is labelled as KB3197356, and is being pushed to all users of the latest Windows 10 version. We expected this update to be a part of next week’s Patch Tuesday, but apparently, Microsoft decided to release it a week earlier.

Just like every regular cumulative update, KB3197356 also brings just a couple of system improvements and bug fixes, without any new features. The main highlight of this update is a fix form Microsoft Edge loading problem, that the previous cumulative update caused.

Here’s what Microsoft says about cumulative update KB3197356:

“This cumulative update resolves an issue in which some sites do not load in Microsoft Edge after KB3194496 is installed. This issue occurs when a user is on a page that specifies a character encoding hint that isn’t present on the computer, and the user browses from that page to a location that uses HTTP redirection.”

The update should already be available to all users of Windows 10 version 1607. If you want to install KB3197356 on your computer, just go to the Settings app > Updates & security, and check for updates. It is recommended to install this update, to make room for more updates that Microsoft is going to release next week, during this month’s Patch Tuesday.

In case you’ve already installed the update, and encountered some issues on the way, feel free to let us know in the comments, and we’ll write a reporting article about it.
