Nokia X2

Microsoft may have abandoned its plans to launch Android-based devices — the Nokia X lineup — but it doesn’t mean it’s not going to support the devices that are already in the market. Stephen Elop previously mentioned that the company will continue to support and sell existing Nokia X devices.

If you’re in possession of a dual-SIM Nokia X2, there’s a little bit of good news for you. Microsoft is rolling out an update for the handset which brings few enhancements and new features on board. The new update brings a new Smart Mode, which lets users capture images of fast-moving objects with a burst of shots. Later, the users can select how the final product should look like using a variety of options to choose from such as Action shot, Best photo or Motion focus.

Secondly, users will be able to personalize their Nokia X2 in a better way. The new update allow users to set customized wallpapers on Fastlane, Start, App list and Lock screens — a feature similar to the customized live tiles on Windows Phone where users can use wallpapers on the live tiles.

“Set photos of beaches or sunsets taken by you (in landscape mode) and feel the amazing parallax effect while swiping from Fastlane to App list. In addition, there’s added live wallpaper support. When you tap a live wallpaper, it responds as if you’re touching it,” Microsoft said.

The update is rolling out as we speak. Simply connect your device to a WiFi network and it will show you an update notification. In case it doesn’t, you can manually check for it by going to Settings > About Phone > System updates. Make sure you’re connected to a WiFi if you don’t want to choke out your monthly data allowance.

Let us know if you’ve received the update, and if there’s any other enhancement on board.
