Microsoft rolls out updates for Windows 8.1 Preview during July 2013 Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has rolled out a few updates for Windows 8.1 Preview, for those of you who are on the operating system which the software giant released to the masses June 26th. As part of July 2013 Patch Tuesday, these updates are available via Windows Update.

Microsoft released seven security patches today as part of Patch Tuesday for Windows 8, but for those of you on Windows 8.1, don't feel left out. Microsoft has also rolled out some security patch love for you.

In my case, I am running Windows 8.1 Preview x64 and the following updates were dated July 9th and were available via Windows Update:

  • KB2863147: No notification about the expiration date of Windows 8.1 Preview
  • KB2865946: Smart card PIN disclosure after an automatic restart for Windows Update in Windows 8.1 Preview
  • KB2866512: Internet Explorer 11 Preview freezes or crashes while loading a webpage that contains widgets
  • KB2866518: Can’t view OWA inbox in Internet Explorer 11 Preview
  • KB2866537: Windows Store app instability after an app update in Windows 8.1 Preview
