Microsoft has rolled out the Xbox One March update, which brings along improved matchmaking, party chat, friends features, and more. This update arrives just in time for Microsoft's exclusive Titanfall game, which is set for release in a few days (March 11th).
"We have received lots of feedback since the launch of Xbox One in November and listening closely to you. I’m excited to share that our second, and most significant, system update for Xbox One is starting to roll out today and includes improved matchmaking, party chat and friends features that will make gaming on Xbox One an experience like no other. To me that means playing games like “Titanfall” on the best multiplayer service on the planet, using a new headset or the one you already own, while live broadcasting your games on Twitch," Microsoft's Marc Whitten stated in an official Xbox Wire news post.
With this update, the friends list is now front and center on main page of the Friends app. Simply say "Xbox, go to Friends" to see who is online and what they are doing. You can then send messages or get into a party. The March update contains a plethora of new features and fixes. You can take a look at all the new improvements listed below:
- Get to your friends list faster.
- Party chat on by default.
- Chat with friends playing different games.
- “Invite friends to game” option available in your multiplayer titles.
- See a list of “Recent Players.”
- Twitch live streaming support.
- Dolby Digital sound.
- 50Hz output to Xbox One.
- Volume up/down adjustments.
- New ways to stay connected with SmartGlass.
- Support for new Xbox One accessories.
- Browser improvements.
- IR blasting of power and volume to TVs/AVRs is now available in all regions.
- Easy sound bar setup.
- General improvements.
Microsoft also mentioned that they are working on external hard drive storage support in a future update. The company is also working on friends notification improvements and plans regular updates to the Xbox One - something gamers will definitely welcome.
Keep in mind that this update will not let you broadcast to Twitch just yet. This feature will be available in a forthcoming update to the Twitch app. Head over to the VIA link below to read about all the new features available in the March update.
