Microsoft says Google isn’t “truly serious” when it comes to the enterprise app business

In a recent Q&A session, Google’s VP and head of the company’s enterprise unit, Amit Singh, mentioned that the company’s goal is to take 90% of Office users away from Microsoft and get them to use Google Apps instead.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is not concerned about Google’s statements. In fact, Microsoft thinks Google is not “truly serious” when it comes to the enterprise app business. Julia White, Microsoft’s business division general manager, recently stated that Google “has not yet shown they are truly serious” when it comes to the enterprise app business because “from the outside, they are an advertising company.” Her statement comes a few days after Google’s Amit Singh revealed “the company goal” to take 90% of Office users away from Microsoft. “Our goal is to get to the 90 percent of users who don’t need to have the most advanced features of Office,” Amit Singh stated in a Q&A session last week.

White also mentioned that Office 365 is “on track to be our fastest growing business.” On top of that, she mentioned that Google would have to “provide a quality enterprise experience” in areas like “privacy, data handling and security” if they want to be taken seriously as a competitor. Ouch. Should Microsoft be concerned?
