In an official blog post, Microsoft is touting Skype for Windows 8.1 as a service that was designed with multitaskers in mind. Microsoft has also rolled out a video showcasing Skype’s multitasking abilities on Windows 8.1.

“We built Skype for Windows 8.1 with the socially-connected generation in mind, so no message is ever missed. These young adults know their way around the web and rely on the internet and their mobile devices for important communication needs,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Skype replaced the built-in Messaging app in Windows 8.1 as Microsoft moves towards integrating a full-fledged communications tool into the operating system. Microsoft has been touting Skype’s ability to keep in touch with anyone, on any screen.

Microsoft plans on continuing its investment in certain features such as picking up calls and messages from the lock screen, Start screen, or from any app. Check out the video below, embedded for your viewing pleasure.
