The Apple Watch is doing terrific and it’s quickly rising up to become perhaps the most important smartwatch in the world. But Microsoft hasn’t yet abandoned the fight and there’s big hope when it comes to the second-generation Microsoft Band.
microsoft band 2 release
The Microsoft Band was announced on October 29, 2014, so it’s almost an year since Microsoft’s first smartwatch was released. However, meanwhile, a lot has changed and the wearables market has evolved quite a lot, so Redmond is badly expected to come up with a response. And indication to that could be recent discounts.

The official Microsoft Store currently retails the Microsoft Band for $180, down by $20 from its initial price. But on Amazon the Band is currently available for $149.99,which  25% less than the usual $199.99 price tag. All of the three sizes (S, M and L) of the Band get the $50 discount, but this is most likely a temporary discount.

Microsoft Band 2 around the corner?

Microsoft did confirm that it is working on a new version of the Band, but hasn’t given a release date, but it could join the new Surface Pro 4 and Lumia flagships at their unveil event which is allegedly set for this October.

I don’t know about you, but I think the next Microsoft Band 2 really needs to be amazing, because when the original version was released, the Apple Watch was still in the prototype phase. But things are different at the moment, so Microsoft has to work hard in order to come up with an impressive and competitive product.
