Microsoft store opens its doors in Bethesda, Maryland

If you’ve never been to a Microsoft store grand opening, then you are missing a spectacle. Giveaways and deals abound, and a concert by a well-known artist ensues later in the day — Weezer played at my local store two years ago.

The latest grand opening is taking place in Bethesda, Maryland, located not too far from the national capital. To be specific, the company gives the exact location as “7101 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda, MD 20817 (Level 2, near Macy’s)”. Microsoft goes on to expand that “Microsoft’s third retail store in Maryland, and first full line store, is coming soon to Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The Westfield Montgomery Mall Microsoft retail store will be 1,273 square feet and employ approximately 25-30 people”.

The software maker began opening its own retail locations back in 2009, in a seeming effort to compete with rival Apple. Since then, more than 100 locations have sprung to life, and the company claims its served more than 400 million customers.

More locations are on the way, in Canada, as well as the US — states such as Arizona, Louisiana, Oklahoma and California will be welcoming the new business.
