Microsoft Surface Pro 3 now available to US government departments via GSA

The United States government has a fairly large amount of purchasing power when it comes to upgrading their technology. Microsoft has made it a point to make it as easy as possible for government bodies to purchase their Surface Pro 3 devices.

The Surface Pro 3 was marketed as the tablet that can replace your laptop, but it is more than just a laptop. The Surface Pro 3 has a large touch screen which makes it easier to use when moving around. The pen of the Pro 3 also enables precision while not needing a mouse or trackpad. The two cameras enable users to take reference pictures to include in their reports. Windows 8.1 enables companies or government agencies to develop lightweight application to make their employees’ jobs easier.

When it comes to evaluating the IT budget managers will go for the simple and cheap solution. The Surface Pro 3 can replace the laptop, tablet, and paper and make a job easier to manage. The Surface Pro 3 is the perfect device for a range of government jobs, such as code inspector, census worker, any on-site management, police and firemen, etc. Basically any job which relies on data gathering on the road using legacy line of business apps.

Now Microsoft has made it easier than ever for government officials to purchase the Surface Pro 3 via GSA. GSA (General Service Administration) is a centralized procurement tool which sets up long term agreements with product vendors. A local or state government body uses GSA to purchase Surface Pro 3s and accessories for their department and provide support and maintenance. Hopefully this is mutually beneficial for government employees and Microsoft.
