Microsoft's Tami Reller, the woman who was recently named as one of two new heads who took over Steven Sinofsky's role as Windows lead, recently did a Q&A session and mentioned that Microsoft feels good about their start with Windows 8, but admits there is much more to do.
"More than 60 million licenses sold is on par with the record setting pace we saw with Windows 7. We feel good about our start with Windows 8 – and of course there is still much more to do," Tami Reller stated in an Q&A session.
Reller also added that the Windows Store has grown tremendously. "Since the grand opening of the Windows Store on October 26th, the number of apps has more than quadrupled. App downloads are strong as we recently passed the 100 million app download mark – just two months after GA. We have seen double digit growth in people visiting the Windows Store week over week since October," Reller added.
While none of this information is really new and has been revealed or mentioned before, Reller mentioned on thing that I would like to see statistics on. "Based on what we've learned, we are finding that people are successfully and quickly learning Windows 8 and their usage gets richer and stronger over time," Reller adds. In fact, Reller stated that 50% of first time Windows 8 users get through the out of box experience in less than 5 minutes. Even on the first day, users are already on the Start Screen, desktop, and charms. In fact, 50% of users go to the Windows Store on the first day. Hit the source link for the full interview.
