More Windows 8.1 Update 1 sceenshots reveal taskbar in Modern UI apps, new DPI options Written by Zac on January 31, 2014, 01:45AM
With the Windows 8.1 Update 1 rumored to arrive in March, it's becoming obvious that Update 1 is set to help unify the experience between the Modern UI and mouse/keyboard users. So far we know that the taskbar will show Modern UI apps, context menus are now available on the Start Screen and boot to desktop being default.
Today, another screenshot has hit the web revealing the taskbar being displayed in Modern UI apps. This change allows mouse users to easily multitask between multiple desktop and Modern apps simply and easily. This change is yet another step forward for Mouse users, who have been asking for this functionality since the Windows 8 Developer Preview in 2011.
Another change is the new DPI settings. Screenshots reveal new 250% and 500% DPI settings which will make text and UI elements on the desktop even bigger. This will be good for larger devices with higher resolutions, whether they be touch devices or mouse/keyboard, this new addition is a good thing.
Of course, until we have any official information, we class everything here as a rumor.
So, what are your thoughts on the taskbar being displayed in Modern UI apps? Do you like this feature, or is this something Microsoft shouldn't be doing? Leave us your thoughts below!
