New 2D platformer, Aaru's Awakening arrives on Xbox One

It’s a good time to be an Xbox One owner. With the steady increase in games, large and small, released for the system and with more on the way, Microsoft’s Xbox One console is finally giving gamers the variety and choice they craved when the system first launched and now has a rather substantial library of video games in several genres.

One of the newer games for the Xbox One is the 2D action platformer, Aaru’s Awakening, by the Icelandic indie game developer Lumenox Games which launches today. The game features a creative hand-drawn design aesthetic and uses the interesting game mechanic of teleportation and charging instead of the usual run, jump, and projectile attack to help set it apart from the growing number of platformers flooding the market.

Here’s the official synopsis and video trailer: “Aaru’s Awakening is a hand-drawn, fast-paced 2D action platformer. The game puts players in charge of Aaru, a mythical creature with two unique abilities teleportation and charging. He uses these abilities as he travels through the dangerous world of Lumenox to defeat an evil entity. These two abilities are at the heart of every level design throughout the game, to make for a challenging and fluid experience. The levels require players to make split second decisions whilst completing fast-paced puzzles.”
