Gaming laptops tend to be rather powerful devices, but buyers usually have to compromise when it comes to the thickness and weight of these laptops. But the new Razer Blade is here, and it once again breaks the rules and offers crazy performance in a thin form factor.

The new 14-inch Blade still retains many of the features that it predecessor did, including the 3200×1800 resolutions display and the black aluminum body which measures a mere 0.7” thick and 4.5 pounds weight, but it improves upon some of the internal specifications. Buyers can now opt for a new Maxwell-based NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M with 3GB of VRAM and a faster Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU running at 2.6GHz. It also supports double the RAM of its predecessor, now offering up to 16GB of DDR3 memory, in addition to a choice of SSD storage ranging from 128GB to 512GB.

“When we debuted the Razer Blade in 2013, we set the benchmark for gaming laptops – and other companies worldwide have followed in our footsteps… We continue to listen as gamer needs evolve and the new Razer Blade again sets the industry standard by which gaming laptops are measured.” – Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO.

The new Razer Blade comes with Windows 8.1 out of the box which we now know will be upgradable to Windows 10 for free in the first year of the OS’s launch and gamers will then be able to see performance improvements in games thanks to DirectX 12 support. All-in-all, you get a powerful Windows gaming computer in the sleek form factor of a MacBook Pro. That’s just as perfect as it gets. Although previous owners of the Blade don’t recommend you game on your lap, a gaming laptop as thin as this one can get a little hot to the touch.

The 2015 Razer Blade is available for purchase now via the RazerZone and the online Microsoft Store. Prices start at $1,999 for the Full HD model and $2,199 for the QHD+ model.
