New video shows the Windows Store has an app for every occasion

The phrase “there’s an app for that” is one that has become a part of popular culture. Every platform — iOS, Android, OS X, BlackBerry, Chrome, Windows Phone– has its own version of an app store, and Windows 8.1 is no different. Initially maligned for offering a small selection of app, the Store has grown hugely in a little over a year.

In a new video Microsoft highlights this growth, proclaiming that there are now “apps for every occasion.” You can check out the video below where you’ll see Microsoft is proud of the giant leap the Store has made.

The quantity of apps may have increased, but this is far from being the whole story. No one is going to be happy with an app store that is filled with thousands of poor quality titles or a series of duplicates. Thankfully, it is not just the quantity of apps that has increased, but also quality.

Windows apps have much improved over the months since the Store’s inception, and there are fewer gaps in the titles that user expect to find. This is what justifies the “apps for every occasion” tag.

In the video we see that there are apps for work, education, entertainment, fitness, music and much more. Look closely and you’ll spot all manner of big names — a sure sign of the increased interest developers have in the Windows Store.
