New VLC for Windows 8.1 screenshots released, still pending Windows Store approval

New VLC for Windows RT screenshots released, still pending Windows Store approval

New VLC for Windows 8.1 screenshots have been revealed, showcasing the current state of the long-awaiting app. At this time, the app is about to be submitted to the Windows Store for approval - yet again.

"We've worked a lot on the audio crashes, and finally decided to rewrote the audio stack for Windows Metro platforms. Hopefully, this will allow us to finally pass the Store validation. This kept us busy during the holidays," VideoLAN stated.

VideoLAN announced back in January of last year that the company had raised over 74,500 dollars during its Kickstarter fundraiser, which aimed to determine hardware and software needs for developers to get started on VLC for Windows 8, Windows RT, and Windows Phone.

As you can see, it has been over a year and no VLC app has been made available yet.

Technical issues have plagued the app for a long time now, resulting in slower than expected development of the app. Hopefully we will see this app sometime soon as it is scheduled to be submitted to the Windows Store in the next few days.

Afterwards, VideoLAN promises a VLC app for Windows Phone. Hit the VIA link below for some screenshots!

Post has been edited to clarify that VLC WinRT refers to the Windows 8.1 app. VLC for Windows RT and Windows Phone will be soon after the 8.1 release. Thanks for pointing this out, gilez!
