Nokia finally unveils the 6-inch 1080p Lumia 1520 in India for Rs 46,999

As we previous reported, Nokia was set to hold an event in India on December 16th in New Delhi, where the company was rumored to launch both the large-screen Windows Phone 8 phablet known as the Lumia 1520, as well as the Lumia 1320. Today, Nokia has unveiled the Lumia 1520 – with the 1320 set to arrive soon.

 The Nokia Lumia 1520 is a 6-inch 1080p Windows Phone 8 smartphone that features a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and a 20-megapixel camera. “With the Nokia Lumia 1520, the first 6-inch Lumia smartphone, we’re significantly expanding our Lumia portfolio applying our industry leading design,” Nokia India’s managing director P Balaji stated.

While the Lumia 1520 is the first 6-inch Windows Phone 8 device, the region is also rumored to be receiving the Lumia 1320, which features a 6-inch 720p display and a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset. The 1320 also comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB expandable storage, a 3400mAh battery, and a 5MP rear camera. This device was not unveiled at the event today but is rumored to be coming soon.

“Large screens are increasingly becoming popular among smartphone users and imaging is one of the key factors that define a good smartphone. With the Nokia Lumia 1520, we have boosted the Lumia design to a large 6-inch screen, with the clearest and sharpest display offering people a better way to tell their stories,” Nokia India’s director of smartphones Vipul Mehrotra stated.

The Lumia 1520 will run you Rs 46,999, being one of the most expensive Nokia smartphones in the market.
