Nokia introduces new Lumia smartphone accessories, DT-601 and DC-19By Ayman on Wednesday, Sep 11th, 2013 at 04:51PM
Nokia announced today that the DT-601 and DC-19, two portable chargers, will be added to its accessory lineup. The DT-601 will be able to more juice in Lumia smartphones via wireless charging, and the DC-19 will be able to improve battery life via microUSB connection.
The DT-601 replaces the DT-900. It comes in a smaller and lighter body, making it easier to carry. The DT-601’s body will only be 65mm in diameter and 9mm thick. As for how it will be connected, it can draw power via USB or power outlet.
When I say it will replace the DT-900, trust me, because it will also be cheaper. Users will be able to get the DT-601 in yellow, cyan, bright red, black, and white for only €29 ($39).
Jaakko Huokkola, the Product Manager for Wireless Charging at Nokia describes the new accessory, “[a] small and round with identical bright colors to what we see in the Lumia family. Because it’s so small and colorful it looks very cute; a bit like a lollipop."
Just like the DT-900, the DT-601 will have a small LED to notify when the phone is charging. The DT-601 is Qi compatible, which means that any Qi-powered device will be able to be charged with this charger.
According to Nokia, this new accessory will be available to consumers in the Asia-Pacific region this month, while the European and American markets will get it in the coming months.
Moving on to their second accessory, the DC-19 is the successor of the DC-18. This accessory is a battery that features a 3,200 mAh juice capacity which comes in at being 99.5 mm long and 25.4 mm wide. This accessory will work with any device that charges via microUSB. This includes phones, tablets, etc.
LED battery level indicators installed will display the juice remaining in the accessory, making it less of a hassle to find out when you’ve used it all up. To add on, the standby time limit for this accessory will be more than at least 6 months.
