The Nokia Lumia 1520 is an impressive addition to the Lumia range of handsets, but did you realize just how impressive? We already know that this is a top end device, but new benchmark results show that it is not just fast, it is faster than a yet-to-be-released flagship phone from Samsung — the Galaxy S5.
Mobile benchmarking firm Rightware has published a set of results that illustrate the 1520 gaming prowess, placing it above the Samsung Galaxy S5, Asus PadFone Infinity 2, Pantech Vega Secret Note and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Benchmarking has been in the spotlight in recent month following allegations that some handset manufacturers were tailoring their devices to boost performance when benchmarking software was running.
Outside of gaming, the still Nokia Lumia 1520 fared very well. In the overall Basemark OS II test, Nokia’s phone came in fifth place, just behind Apple’s iPhone 5s.
The six-inch screen lends itself to a wider range of games than some handsets, opening up the possibility of gaming beyond the simple puzzlers that are frequently associated with mobile devices. Are you a Windows Phone gamer? What are your favorite titles? Do you use your phone for serious gaming and feel the need for serious processing power, or do you favor simpler, more casual games?
