On the same day of revealing the new Lumia 520 and 720, Nokia has released the HERE location suite for Windows Phone 8, which offers offline mapping, voice-guided navigation, speed limit warnings, venue maps, place reviews, train schedules, and more. A great app for those who own a Windows Phone device.
As you will see from the video below, the HERE location suite includes HERE Maps, HERE Drive, and HERE Transit. These apps are designed to work together and were only available to Lumia handsets but are now available for all Windows Phone 8 users in the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. You can grab these three apps from the download links below.
Nokia has also announced new partnerships with developers, who will now have under-the-hood access to Nokia’s location, imaging, and music services. In fact, apps from Burton, GoPro, and FourSquare are already taking advantage of this. Nokia has also formed a partnership with DreamWorks Animation for some “entertainment experiences” that will be exclusive to Lumia owners when they arrive later this year. Nokia and Microsoft are also teaming up to push Lumia into the workplace and carriers like Orange, Telstra, and Vodaphone are already planning on pushing the Lumia phones as “business-friendly.”
