New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority puts its faith in Office 365

No one wants to be separated from their data, regardless of whether it is stored in the cloud or locally, and communication is more important than ever. This is particularly true of government and public bodies where an inability to access data or losing contact could have devastating consequences. New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) is determined to avoid this being a problem, and is putting its faith in Office 365 and its “always on, no matter what” reliability.

Over the next few months, MTA will be deploying 22,000 Office 365 installations and taking advantage of cloud-based email. The importance of the transportation network means that downtime is simply not an option, even when disaster strikes.

Serving more than 15 million customers, it is essential that MTA communications do not fail, and this is just the latest in a string of governmental departments who have made the move to Office 365.. The migration to Office 365 allows for better collaboration between workers, and more reliable cloud-based communication.

Michael Donlan, Vice President, US State and Local Government Microsoft said: “The MTA joins a rapidly growing list of state and local government customers that are taking advantage of the reliable communication and productivity benefits of moving to the cloud with Microsoft, including the City of Chicago, the City of San Jose, the State of New York, and the State of Texas.”
