Office 365 gets an updated app launcher and 'My apps' page, adds a new level of organization

Microsoft has announced new improvements to Office 365, making it easier than ever to achieve a new level of organization and personalization. Microsoft has added a new navigation experience to the Office 365 app launcher. On top of that, Microsoft has created a new ‘My apps’ page which allows you to personalize which apps you prefer to see.

With the new Office 365 app launcher, you can easily access your apps from the top navigation bar. You can quickly launch your email, documents, spreadsheets, calendar, and presentations. The app launcher offers a single point of access to the apps you use daily, according to Microsoft. All you have to do is click the top left app launcher icon to open up the app launcher.

The app launcher simply allows you to put your important tools right where you want them, thanks to the pin and un-pin functionality. You can pin up to three apps to the right side of the top nav bar. You can take a look at this feature in action below.

Microsoft has also created a ‘My apps’ page, which lets you see all your Office 365 apps, as well as any additional apps you add to Office 365. This particular page lets you easily launch, manage, and add apps. All you have to do is click the ellipsis to display a contextual menu, which offers you app details, app descriptions, the ability to pin or un-pin an app, or even remove an app completely.

In order to access the My apps page, simply select it from the bottom right of the app launcher pane. If you un-pin an app from the app launcher, the app will reside in the My apps page and is available to re-pin at any time.

Here is what Microsoft had to say about these new features:

“As we move forward with the app launcher and the My apps experience, you will see further integration and availability of additional applications. The Office 365 online experience will continue to expand to include an app store providing customers access to a variety of applications to further extend and customize. With these customization options, a place for everything, and everything in its place becomes achievable in Office 365.”

Microsoft plans to roll out these new features in November, but those who have opted into the ‘First Release’ program will see it later this month. Additional apps can be snagged from the Office Store.
