For those that didn't know, Office 365 Home Premium is subscription based. But what happens when your subscription ends? Apparently, Office enters a reduced functionality mode that prevents you from creating or editing documents.
Office 365 Home Premium seems like the perfect choice, as it offers a $99.99 per year subscription with access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. On top of that, you can get up to five installs on your PC or Mac. Users will also get 20GB of additional SkyDrive cloud storage to save their files and access them anywhere, as well as 60 minutes of Skype calls per month.
But what happens when you forget to renew and your subscription runs out? Apparently, all your Office applications (Word, Excel, etc) will enter a "read-only reduced functionality mode" which allows users to view and print documents but will not allow editing or creation of new documents. Customers will have to purchase a new subscription via Office.com, or just install an old version of Office or use Office Web Apps on SkyDrive.
