Microsoft is giving Xbox One owners the chance to play the full version of NBA 2K16 for free this weekend and a few more days next week.

The promotional period will run from 12 PM PT Thursday, May 26 through to 11:59 PM PT Monday, May 30 to allow gamers in all regions to have a chance to play. Once the promotional period starts, Xbox Live Gold members simply need to find the game in the store and download it. Participants won’t be charged but after the campaign period ends, the game will have to be purchased to continue playing.

Thankfully with Xbox One’s cloud saves, whenever a player continues their game, they can pick up right where they left off. NBA 2K16 will also be discounted next week for those that are tempted to buy it after playing.

Here’s the game’s official description: The NBA 2K franchise is back with the most true-to-life NBA experience to date with NBA 2K16. Featuring an all-new MyCAREER experience written, directed and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee.  Guide your MyPLAYER through the complete NBA journey, take control of an entire NBA franchise, or hone your skills online competing against gamers from around the world. With animations that provide smoother movement and more realistic articulation, and a unique cover design featuring NBA stars Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis and James Harden, it’s certain to be the most authentic NBA gaming experience yet.

Microsoft frequently holds Xbox Live Gold’s Free Play Days to give gamers a try at full games without the restrictions of smaller demos. NBA 2K16 has actually already been featured in a Free Play Day back in November of last year. It seems like Microsoft is really pushing this game (probably due to the release of NBA 2K17 being on the horizon).
