Scribd and Rdio apps now available for Windows 8.1, listen to some music and read some books!

Two new apps for Windows 8.1 have hit the Windows Store. If you love to read books, check out the official Scribd app. If you enjoy listening to music, give the official Rdio app a spin! Both apps are free.

“Use the Scribd app for unlimited access to over 400,000 books for just $8.99 per month. Included with a subscription are books from over 900 publishers, including NYT bestsellers, literary classics, groundbreaking non-fiction, and reader favorites in every genre. We also have the world’s largest digital document collection, with millions of user-uploaded written works,” the app description reads.

With the Scribd app, you can discover new favorite books with editorial collections and personalized recommendations. There are also millions of user-contributed documents and written works that you can browse through. Books are synced across your devices too, including your Windows device, Android, iPad, or iPhone.

“Discover your next favorite track with Rdio, a social jukebox with over 20 million tracks to play – instantly or in stations. Play what you want, when you want, from new hits to classic albums. Or, start a station based on any track, artist or genre and lean back while Rdio plays a perfect mix of songs. Once you’ve found some favorites, add them to your Collection or put them in a playlist,” the app description reads.

Rdio is considered a “social jukebox” with over 20 million songs to listen to. The service connects you with people and makes it easy to search for the music you enjoy. With the official Rdio app, you can pin albums to the Start Screen as a Live tile.

Grab both apps via the download links below. Both are free!
