Security warning email from Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit is actually malware

Microsoft has issued a warning for everyone to be on the lookout of a malicious email, claiming to be from the Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit, only to be malware instead. The email contains an attachment that users are enticed to run to “validate their email account.”

“Due to a new vulnerability which is exploited by hackers to steal your online details. Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit in 2013 has hereby developed a new security measure. All users of the Internet and Microsoft products are hereby required to validate there email account information irregardless of their Internet service provider or Host company,” the email reads. You can read the full email below. Antivirus firm Sophos has labeled this attack as Troj/Agent-AANA Trojan horse. If you have received this email, simply delete it and do not open the attachment.
