Skype for Android updated with better Microsoft Office Support

We wrote a piece a few days ago about Microsoft apps on iOS devices, but it is worth noting that Microsoft has also put some of its apps in Android’s Google Play Store.  Today, Skype for Android got updated with a fresh set of features that help integrate it with other Microsoft apps on Android devices.

Thanks to a new update to Skype on Android, you can now create calendar events by tapping on a contact, then the menu on the upper right and selecting “schedule a call.”  While we also previously gave Word for iOS a look, several new Microsoft Office related features have also hit the Skype app for Android thanks to the update.  The Skype app can now directly open Microsoft Office files, and to do so, tap on a received Word, Excel, or PowerPoint presentation to open the file in it’s corresponding Office app.
