Still want that dual-boot Android-Windows Phone? Huawie is stepping back from the ledge

There have been numerous recent stories clogging the tech news world concerning dual-boot smartphones. Obviously this involves Windows Phones and Android, as Apple will not license its precious baby to anyone, and people my children’s age don’t know what Blackberry is -- they’d ask me to put it on toast if I mentioned the word.

Huawei, a prominent hardware maker that planned to jump into this new market, has now backed down from that decision according to new reports. Fierce Wireless claims to have received an official statement from the Chinese OEM, stating, "Huawei Consumer Business Group adopts an open approach towards mobile operating systems to provide a range of choices for consumers. However, most of our products are based on Android OS, [and] at this stage there are no plans to launch a dual-OS smartphone in the near future."

This flies in the face of earlier statements made by a company representative. For now, it seems that Huawei will continue on it's current trajectory, meaning mostly Android devices, but it does state that Microsoft is considered a key partner in the market.

No reasons are given, but speculation of pressure from Microsoft, Google, or both will certainly be in the back of people’s minds. However, the bottom line may be a lack of interest -- does anyone wish to mess with dual-boot operating system on a smartphone?
