Titanfall 2 may not be exclusive to Microsoft as EA bags sequel rights

Titanfall was released earlier this month (at least for PC and Xbox One gamers) to much critical acclaim, and it seems crazy that there is already talk of the sequel -- everyone should be busy playing! But big name games like this always get tongues wagging. It seems that although the first instalment of Titanfall was a Microsoft exclusive, the same may not be true of the follow-up.

There had previously been hints that future releases of the game could find their way onto other platforms, and this latest suggestion is certainly adding fuel to the fire. Just a few months ago, EA's CFO Blake Jorgensen said: "I'm sure that there will be future Titanfalls at some point that may be on multiple product platforms. That's up to the teams that are going through that now."

Now Gamespot is reporting that a "reputable source" as saying that EA has managed to secure the right to the game's sequel, so Jorgensen's word seem to be even more significant.

The Xbox One has done well from the first Titanfall title, with the Special Edition bundle being snapped up by eager gamers. The launch of Titanfall is likely to be quite some time off yet, but this is not going to stop questions from being asked.

Sadly, when probed by Gamespot and Polygon, EA declined to comment, saying: "We do not comment on rumor or speculation. Right now all our focus is on supporting all the fans worldwide enjoying Titanfall."

In the meantime, what do you make of the game?
