The creators of the smash successes Call of Duty: Black Ops and its sequel Black Ops 2, are embarking on a new three-year, collaborative three developer strategy for the future of their franchise. This announcement came from CEO of Activision Publishing Eric Hirshberg during a quarterly earnings call today. Hirshberg reiterated during the call that, “this fall’s game will be Treyarch’s first of the three-year development cycle.” He also said, “It will be loaded with innovation, and we’re excited to share more details with our community soon.”

This three studio, three-year developer pronged approach has Treyarch collaborating with Sledgehammer Games, the creators of the 2014 futuristic science fiction fantasy Call of Duty: Advance Warfare, and a new Call of Duty studio yet to be announced.
