UMi Touch

UMi, a Chinese brand, recently launched its latest flagship device dubbed as UMi Touch. Although it ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow as its operating system, it appears the Chinese vendor wants to give more options to its customers. The manufacturer is offering Windows 10 Mobile as an optional operating system for the new flagship device in the form of a custom ROM which can be installed by users after purchasing the device (via Gizmo China).

The handset offer users with a great set of specifications, including a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core MediaTek processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There’s a massive 4,000 mAh battery on board so you don’t run out of juice at important times. Other features include a 13MP main camera, 5MP front-facing camera and a fingerprint sensor as an added security measure.

The Windows 10 Mobile version will come with support for universal apps as well as a revamped Outlook app. Furthermore, the device will also support Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual digital assistant, to search for items and perform voice-activated actions on their smartphone. It appears the operating system also has the enhanced Lumia camera app which supports 4K video recording, improved photos and more, but it would be interesting to see if MediaTek 6753 can support this feature or not. Other features include dual-SIM support which is quite common in China, LTE connectivity, WiFi, and more.

The handset will launch in multiple color options, including Silver, Grey, and Gold. The handset is available in China, but there’s no word if the company plans to launch the new device in any other key smartphone market across the globe — we doubt it will come to other markets as there are hardly a few Chinese brands who have made their international debut.
