VLC app for Windows 8 gets its first update, addresses startup crash and stability issues

VLC for Windows 8 was finally made available to the Windows Store, albeit in Beta, last week. Now, the app has received its very first update, addressing the pesky startup crash as well as other stability issues. This update is great news for those of you who have been supporting this project since day one.

“VLC for Windows 8 is an experimental port of VLC media player for the WinRT platform. VLC media player is an open source application that plays all multimedia file formats, from files, streams and discs on all platform,” the app description reads.

VideoLAN has rolled out the first update to the VLC app, fixing the startup bug that was plaguing users. VideoLAN promises another update to the app sometime later this week, likely fixing more bugs since the app is currently in Beta. As of March 15th, VideoLAN claims there has been over 38,000 app downloads.
