VLC app for Windows 8.1 to receive new design and more in upcoming updateWritten by Ron on June 24, 2014 - 08:36AM @ronwinbeta
The developer behind VLC for Windows 8 is promising a new design, better responsiveness, and more in an upcoming update to the app. VLC for Windows 8 is currently in Beta and works on Windows 8.1, as Windows RT and Windows Phone have yet to be supported.
"VLC for Windows 8 is an experimental port of VLC media player for the WinRT platform. VLC media player is an open source application that plays all multimedia file formats, from files, streams and discs on all platform," the app description reads.
Tomas Nigro, the developer behind VLC for Windows 8, took it to Twitter to mention the upcoming update. He didn't provide much details except that it would feature a new design (same user interface) and be responsive. Nigro also stated that a Windows RT version of the app would arrive alongside the Windows Phone version - which is rumored for a release in August of this year.
Working on VLC for Windows 8.1 ... :) New design coming, more responsive and 8.1-ish— Thomas Nigro (@ThomasNigro) April 27, 2014
Working hard on that VLC Windows 8.1 release. Same UI, but much improved code, that's our goal for now. Kind of a first step.— Thomas Nigro (@ThomasNigro) June 24, 2014
