VLC beta for Windows Phone updated to provide UI and playback bug fixes

Popular media player VLC, whose beta app arrived on Windows Phone platform recently, has snagged an important update to add several fixes and improvements. Bumping up the version number to 1.0.7, the app has become a lot more stable even though the app is currently in beta.

As per the changelog, the update brings UI and background audio playback bug fixes with it. Thomas Nigro, the app developer of VLC, notes that x20 handsets (example, Lumia 520, Lumia 720) should no longer freeze when playing a video.

“While this update provides fix for freezing when playing videos, it does NOT fix the lags on HD videos. Another fix will come. Rotation lock is still on the way for the next update. Same for incremental music loading. Same for embedded album cover. I also HIGHLY recommend you to uninstall/reinstall the app,” Nigro noted on Twitter.

He further notes that he will be fixing a lot of bugs, including the little bug with TaskCompletionSource, in the 1.0.8 update. In case you have yet to try the VLC beta app, you can grab it from the download link below.
