Watch today’s Apple Special Event on Windows 10 with Edge

Another Apple live stream event is on its way, and in the past, Apple only supported their own browser, Safari, to stream their events. Last year, Apple added Microsoft’s Edge to stream Apple’s September 9, 2015 event in San Francisco. Again this year, Apple added Microsoft Edge, in addition to Safari, to stream their March 21, 2016 “Special Event.”

Here are the requirements for streaming Apple’s Special Event:

“Requirements: Live streaming uses Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. HLS requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) with software 6.2 or later or an Apple TV (4th generation).”

One possibility is that Apple is trying to entice Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 3 users to come over (or back) to Apple. Apple is still leaving Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer users unable to stream the event. Tim Cook will likely introduce a smaller iPhone, iPad Pro, iOS 9.3, and talk at length about encryption.
