Windows 8.1 Update 1 build 9600.16608 screenshots leak, boot to desktop still defaultWritten by Zac Bowden on February 06, 2014 - 11:57AM @sM4llziE
Another build of Windows 8.1 Update 1 has leaked in the form of screenshots, which was compiled on January 30. This is a more recent build than the one which was leaked a few days ago, which means boot to desktop is on by default. This has been the case for two pre-release builds now, so is this going to be an official change?
Of course, boot to desktop being on by default could still change way before Windows 8.1 Update 1 is finalized. Right now though, it appears the team within Microsoft are testing such feature. This may or may not be a good thing depending on how you look at it, for mouse users it's a great thing but for touch users it's a terrible thing. Perhaps the build will detect what hardware you have and automatically show the desktop or Modern UI depending on whether you have a touch screen or not.
The taskbar is now transparent within Modern UI apps too, which will help unify the experience between the Modern UI and Desktop.
Another thing is Enterprise Mode within Internet Explorer 11. According to WZOR it's far more integrated now, which can only be a good thing. Along with this, he claims that an MSU leak is imminent of an RTM escrow build, which is pretty interesting.
We'll keep you updated.
