Rumor has it that the highly-anticipated Windows 8.1 Update 1 will be arriving on April 8th, while developers may be able to snag it on April 2nd via MSDN. Those familiar with Microsoft development have even backed the rumor.
Two days ago, Windows 8.1 Update 1 magically appeared on the web. There were two different ways to grab the said update, including downloading files from Microsoft’s own servers. While many people grabbed the update files from there, those who missed it won’t be able to download it now. As it seems Microsoft has taken down those download links. Microsoft never acknowledged the unofficial availability, nor has it confirmed that the links were pulled.
So what do you do now? Well, you can either wait like the multitude of other consumers, or use your Google/Bing skills to look for those files on the file-sharing websites. But more often than not, people alter such files and attach a piece of malware to them, so it is recommended to wait for the official availability. We will keep you posted as we receive more information.
Thanks for the tip Khamosh!
