Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview coming out in April First week, says Joe Belfiore

Last week at its annual developer conference Build, Microsoft announced Windows Phone 8.1. The new operating system for Windows-powered mobile devices brings several new features, including the highly anticipated voice assistant service, Cortana. While Microsoft detailed a lot of the new features in Windows Phone 8.1, it didn’t give an exact release date. Today, however, the company’s corporate Vice President Joe Belfiore has tweeted that the developer preview will be coming out in the “first part of April”.

Joe, again, didn’t reveal a date. While he has mentioned that the developer preview will be available by the first half of April (that is by April 15th), there was a rumor circulating before this reveal that Microsoft will release the developer preview on the 14th, perhaps that is when the software giant is planning to do it.

Also, it’s no big secret that anyone can sign-up using App Studio as a “developer” to grab the developer preview once it becomes available. Windows Phone 8.1 brings Universal apps, Cortana, a better notification hub among many other things. Are you excited about it?
