Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview gets an update to build 8.10.12397.895Written by Ron on June 12, 2014 - 10:20AM @ronwinbeta
A new update has rolled out for those of you on the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview. This update bumps the version number to 8.10.12397.895. Head over to Settings > Phone Update to snag the update.
"Starting today at 10am (Pacific), the third update to the Preview for Developers will start rolling out, and you should be able to get onto build 12397. This update enables some newly commercialized devices and tweaks a couple of new APIs, so you won’t see a difference on your device, but we encourage everyone who’s on the Preview for Developers to stay current on the latest build," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
So don't expect to see any differences with this update, as it just simply enables devices and tweaks a few APIs. Microsoft is currently testing a brand new Lock screen app which will be released as a beta in the next couple of weeks for devices with 1GB or more of RAM.
Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview was originally released in April of this year. On May 14th, Microsoft rolled out an update to the Developer Preview (8.10.12382.878), adding a few improvements based on feedback. The company rolled out a minor 20MB update (8.10.12393.890) just last week.
This update is only rolling out to those who have the Preview for Developers app installed, which allows you to get the Developer Preview of Windows Phone 8.1. You can learn how to get Windows Phone 8.1 by taking a look at our handy guide.
