Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 SDK and Emulators now available for download

Earlier today, Microsoft rolled out Update 1 Developer Preview for Windows Phone 8.1. Developers now have access to Microsoft's next update to Windows Phone 8.1. On top of that, the company has rolled out the SDK and Emulators package as well.

"The Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 SDK and Emulators package installs the updated SDK and adds additional emulator images to an existing installation of Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 or later. With this update installed, you can create and test apps that will run on devices that have Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1," Microsoft stated.

Using the SDK and Emulators, developers can create and test apps on devices that will be running Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1. The following new emulators have been added:

  • New Windows Phone Emulator 8.1 Update 1 WVGA 4 inch
  • New Windows Phone Emulator 8.1 Update 1 WVGA 4 inch 512MB
  • New Windows Phone Emulator 8.1 Update 1 WXGA 4.5 inch
  • New Windows Phone Emulator 8.1 Update 1 720p 4.7 inch
  • New Windows Phone Emulator 8.1 Update 1 1080p 5.5 inch
  • New Windows Phone Emulator 8.1 Update 1 1080p 6 inch

In order to install the SDK, you are required to have Windows 8.1 and Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 or later. Hit the download link below to download the SDK and Emulators package. The Emulators are rougly 2MB, while the SDK is roughly 1GB in size.
