According to Microsoft India, the company’s Windows Phone mobile operating system is the second most popular operating system in the nation. Microsoft provided this bit of detail in a recent Tweet on the company’s official Twitter page.
Our friends over at Neowin are awaiting for an official confirmation from Microsoft, since the company didn’t elaborate much in the Tweet. This claim was made during the software giant’s TechEd conference in India, which took place this past weekend.
Microsoft has worked hard to get Windows Phones in India’s market. Just this past November, the Nokia Lumia 510, powered by Windows Phone 7.5 made its debut in India.
If this turns out to be true, Microsoft’s master plan of offering cheaper Windows Phones, in conjunction with Nokia, is in-fact helping to boost sales in the region. Microsoft made no mention as to which competitor was number one in the region, so we will leave that up to our readers to guess who. Our guess is Google’s Android.
