Microsoft has revealed in an official blog post that the Windows Phone Store currently has more than 130,000 apps and games thus far. Microsoft is happy to see the Windows Phone developer community growing in a rapid pace.
"The Windows Phone developer community itself is growing rapidly as well. Developer registrations are up by over 40,000 in the first 90 days since the launch of Windows Phone 8, and we’ve already seen 15,000 new apps that specifically leverage the new platform functionality Windows Phone 8 provides. All told, you’ve created a catalog of more than 130,000 apps and games – designed specifically for a differentiated Windows Phone UI and ecosystem. And we expect this growth to continue as the number of Windows Phone 8 SDK downloads just passed 500,000 in less than 4 months from its release on October 30, 2012," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
The Windows Phone Store has also experienced a big increase in app downloads since the launch of the Store back when Windows Phone 7 was around. In fact, there is a 75% increase in app downloads, 91% increase in paid app revenue, and over 1 billion transactions.
Microsoft has also released a Windows Phone Dev Center app for your Windows Phone handset, which offers everything you need to know about creating your apps. If you are an app developer, this app is a must-have. Microsoft is still ironing out the bugs in this app but is offering the first preview for download, grab it from the link below!
