Windows XP reaches end of support in 800 days, have you upgraded yet?

Microsoft has reiterated today that the end of support for Windows XP is nearing. In fact, we have 800 days left until the end of support for Windows XP. Microsoft is also offering several tips on upgrading to a modern operating system.

“It takes 18-24 months to plan for and deploy a new operating system. If you haven’t started planning to migrate your Windows XP PCs to a modern OS, or if your migration plan have stalled here are some great tools to help you,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Microsoft offers several tips and tutorials on how to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7, including a Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) which removes the need for disc imaging, migrates your data in place during deployment, and costs you nothing. If you haven’t migrated yet, check it out.

During the Worldwide Partner Conference last year, Microsoft’s Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner told 14,000 audience members consisting of Microsoft partners to prep their customers for a the “new world” of Windows 7, Office 2010, and IE9. Turner also told audience members that Windows XP, Office 2003, and IE6 were dead. “Windows XP, Office 2003, and IE6 deserve a standing ovation. God bless them. They’ve worked for the last twelve, thirteen years. We love those products. We absolutely love those products. They’ve been so good to so many people. But you know what? They’re dead. They’re dead. End of life is 2014. We have to get behind this refresh,” Turner stated.
